Telefunken was initially released in 2000 on a CD including thirty tracks. The original format combined audio and visual information by plugging the stereo into a tv set and letting the sounds create the images. The audio material has been used for Carsten Nicolai’s homonymous installation, which was presented in several museums worldwide. This method has remained one of the core principles of Alva Noto’s live performances, where he exhibits the visualization of sound. All the tracks are 0 dB. If you listen to them as audio-only, low volume is advised as the audio impulses vary throughout the recording.
