Wohltemperiert is the second collaboration between Alva Noto and Pan Sonic’s Mika Vainio. It was recorded in New York City at the studio of the American, multi-instrumentalist Lary Seven. Seven is a collector of analog equipment, and Carsten and Mika were based in New York. The artists had several sessions at Seven’s studio. The fifteen tracks were initially recorded on analog tape and released on CD only. The cover artwork is a doodle by Carsten Nicolai’s father, Ralph Nicolai. Mika selected the image for the release.
