The cyclo. project was founded on the occasion of a new series of concerts by Ryoji Ikeda and Carsten Nicolai in 1999 at Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Leipzig, Germany. Between 1999 and 2001, the two artists started exchanging files, and with the material collected composed a series of audio-works. Cyclo. sets a priority on the digital quality of the tracks. Selective use of automated processes like the overlapping of loops, their falsification through wrong calculation or incorrect condensation algorithms, errors, and their translation into rudimentary rhythmic constellations constitute the core concept of this first collaborative release.
